traditional side of the Catalan grape growing and winemaking
culture
Grape
growing and winemaking in Catalunya are enriched by important
and deep-rooted traditions boasting countless traditional Catalan
activities related to the countryside and grape growing.
Notable in almost all the grape growing and winemaking towns
throughout Catalunya are the Harvest Festivals which take
place during the months of September and October.
The
Castellers (Human Towers) competitions in the winemaking towns
of Valls, Vilafranca del Penedès, la Bisbal del Penedès
and L'Arboç del Penedès should not be missed
A
nd finally, the numerous presentations of Catalan wines which
take place in a host of Catalan towns and villages, the main
one being the annual event in Barcelona which coincides with
the festivities of the Mercè (24th September).
